Also, the company will make a direct flight from Odessa to Riga on Saturday, February 19.
Due to increased demand, the Latvian airline airBaltic is arranging two additional Kiev-Riga flights.
The airline announced this in a press release on its official website.
Flights are scheduled for 15 and 16 February 2022.
“In order to meet the significant passenger demand for flights from Kiev (Ukraine) to Riga (Latvia), airBaltic has scheduled two additional flights on February 15 and 16, 2022,” the press release reads.
In addition, the carrier plans to make direct flights Kiev-Vilnius on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Recall that because of the threat of Russian attack, insurance companies began to refuse to insure aircraft flying to Ukraine. This may result in flight cancellations. Some companies have already begun to cancel flights to Ukraine. So, on February 13, according to information from the Boryspil airport, the Dutch company KLM canceled all its flights from February 13 to 17. At the same time, the air carrier itself does not report any changes. On February 14, it became known that the Norwegian airline Norwegian stops flights over Ukraine due to the current situation, citing a safety assessment.
At the same time, to prevent the closing of the sky, Ukraine will insure aircraft instead of private insurance companies. Thus, the Cabinet of Ministers has already allocated UAH 16.6 billion to guarantee uninterrupted flights to Ukraine for air carriers. This decision was made the night before at an emergency meeting of the Cabinet.
