Reporters found out that Amazon's British warehouse destroys a huge amount of goods every day, including MacBooks and TVs. The company claims that it uses unsold equipment as raw materials for processing or energy production.
Despite claims from Amazon representatives, a former employee of the company's warehouse said there were plans to destroy about 130,000 items weekly. About half of them are new, and the other half are those returned by customers. Sometimes up to 200,000 units are destroyed. Laptops, tablets, and medical masks are also being eliminated.
At the same time, only 28,000 goods in one studied week were sent to those in need. 124,000 goods were sent to the landfill.
The point is that Amazon is a marketplace for third-party sellers. Storing goods in the warehouse of an online store is an expensive pleasure for them. Therefore, it is more profitable to destroy items.
