An amber stone weighing more than five kilograms was found in Rivne region. The giant entered the ten largest in the world.
According to the chairman of the Rivne Regional State Administration Vitaly Koval, today the maximum weight of such a specimen is more than 9 kg. The stone is in the Natural History Museum in Berlin. And in Ukraine, the largest amber samples were considered weighing 1040-1930 g.
– Such specimens are extremely rare, experts at the State Gemological Center of Ukraine confirm. Only a few stones are in museums and private collections, & # 8212; added Koval.
The precious gem was mined at the Vladimir-Vostochny deposit.
Earlier in the Rivne region, they took up the restoration of forests affected by illegal amber mining.
There are more than 4 thousand hectares of such territories in the region. There is a lot of work, because at the peak of illegal fishing there were thousands of miners working here, who swept away everything in their path in pursuit of profit.
