The Kremlin wants to establish total surveillance of Russians through CCTV cameras – ISW

In total, there are approximately 1.2 million video surveillance cameras in the Russian Federation, and half of them are available to the authorities.

The Kremlin wants to gain control over all video surveillance systems in the Russian Federation to increase repression in the country.

This is stated in a report by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War ( ISW ).

The report indicates that the Russian Ministry of Digital Development has initiated the creation of a unified platform for storing and processing video materials from all video surveillance systems in Russia, the cost of which will be about $134 million.

It is reported that in total there are approximately 1.2 million video surveillance cameras in the Russian Federation and half of them are available to the authorities. The Russian Ministry of Digital Development wants to increase the number of cameras to 5 million by 2030. All cameras will have built-in facial and image recognition software.

Let us recall that earlier the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (2005-2010), Army General Nikolai Malomuzh, said that the Russian dictator Putin needs some kind of victory before the elections in the Russian Federation .
