The Kremlin sees that the West, instead of directly responding to security guarantees, is trying to avoid understanding issues that are critical for Russia. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue to instruct Western partners to stop ignoring security issues that are fundamental to Moscow. He recalled that the head of state directly stated his position both in 2007 and in 2022.

“Moreover, we state an attempt to concentrate on secondary details and an attempt to avoid any understanding of issues that are critical to us,” the presidential spokesman said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, pointed out that the West ignored the key provisions for Russia of the Russian-American treaty and the agreement with NATO on security guarantees. In particular, we are talking about the non-expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance and the non-deployment of strike weapons systems near Russian borders.
