Кремль запугивает НАТО: аналитики рассказали, что об этом свидетельствует

Russia is trying to contain the expansion of the Alliance's influence on other countries.

Russian Su-24 aircraft violated Swedish airspace off the island of Gotland. The board was warned about the violation, but the Russian crew did not react. After this, the Royal Air Force decided to intercept the aircraft with a JAS-39 Gripen fighter.

This is stated in the report of analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.

Experts also recalled that Russian aircraft also violated Finnish airspace on June 10 for the first time since 2022, and the Finnish Ministry of Defense on June 14 said it believed that four Russian military aircraft violated Finnish airspace instead of one aircraft. which the Ministry of Defense reported earlier.

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson and Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkänen attended the NATO Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels on June 13 and 14 in preparation for the Washington Summit in July 2024, an annual summit that will cover defense issues , deterrence and NATO assistance coordination.

“The 2024 Washington summit will be Sweden's first head-of-state NATO summit since joining in March 2024. Finland is NATO's second member, having joined the alliance only in April 2023. The Kremlin may be keen to punish Sweden for its accession to NATO and moderate the countries of the Alliance, especially its new members, from supporting Ukraine,” analysts say.

Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said that Kremlin head Vladimir Putin is afraid of a war with NATO, although he is trying to intimidate Western societies. Thus he seeks to moderate their actions.
