Nikita Danchenkov
Arbiter Nikita Danchenkov spoke about the attempt of acquaintances of the former Russian national football team player Roman Shirokov to resolve their conflict without trial. His words are quoted by Sport24.
According to Danchenkov, representatives of the 39-year-old athlete contacted him and offered to hush up the case. At the same time, he stressed that Shirokov himself did not apply to him. The victim refused the offer of the player's entourage.
On September 15, Danchenkov's lawyer Aleksandr Ostrovsky said he did not agree with how the police qualified Shirokov's attack on his client. For beating Danchenkov, a criminal case was initiated against the ex-player of the Russian national team under article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of minor harm to health”). The football player is threatened with correctional labor or arrest. Ostrovsky expects that the case will be re-qualified and Shirokov will be tried for attempted murder.
Shirokov beat a referee during an amateur league match on August 10. He hit the referee several times. Later, the footballer apologized to Danchenkov on Instagram, but he went to the police.
Shirokov is known for his performances for Zenit, Spartak and Krasnodar. He has three titles of the champion of Russia, as well as a victory in the UEFA Cup. In addition, the midfielder played 56 matches for the Russian national team and won bronze at the 2008 European Championship. After completing his career, he became an expert on Match TV, but was removed from broadcasts in connection with the incident.
