Israeli soldiers fight in close combat.
The Israeli military is moving into Gaza City and surrounding it in several directions.
This was announced by the head of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herze Halevi, writes The Times of Israel.
“We have advanced to another significant stage of the war. The forces are in the center of northern Gaza, operating in Gaza City, encircling it, deepening (the ground offensive – ed.) and making progress,” Halevi said.
During a speech at one of the air bases, Galev said that the IDF is fighting in a dense and complex urban environment, which requires professionalism and courage.
According to Galle, the military conducts close battles after accurate reconnaissance and with fire support from the air and sea. He noted that since the start of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, 18 Israeli soldiers have been killed.
In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the IDF had already advanced to the outskirts of Gaza City.
“We are at the peak of the battle. We have made amazing progress and have passed the outskirts of Gaza City. We are moving forward,” Netanyahu said in a statement.
Let us remind you that the IDF is beginning a full-scale operation to destroy Hamas tunnels in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army launches a ground offensive.
