Some iPhones may fade over time. This is reported by the specialized Slovenian publication Svetapple.
The journalists who paid attention to the problem said that the iPhone 12 case in red may lose its original appearance over time. The device, which turned out to be at the disposal of the authors, was used for several months in a transparent silicone case. After some time, the owner of the device noticed that the side edges of the phone turned yellow noticeably. It turned out that other iPhone users are complaining about a similar problem on the Apple forum and on social networks.
In most cases, the flaw, which journalists call irreparable, is observed in the red iPhone 12. Also found several complaints about the fading of the iPhone 11, iPhone XR and iPhone SE new generation. However, fading is less noticeable on colors other than red.
The authors were unable to give an exact answer to what such a defect could be connected with. There is an assumption that the loss of the original appearance is associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation or contact with a silicone case. Also, journalists suggested that the device may fade due to friction against the user's palm.
At the time of writing, Apple has not responded to the issue. Experts believe that if defective devices are defective, the company will be able to replace the devices with new ones.
In mid-March, journalists noticed that the cost of the base iPhone 12 had dropped markedly. On the Russian market, it became possible to purchase a smartphone with 64 gigabytes of internal memory for 62 588 rubles. At the start of sales, the device was estimated at 80 thousand rubles.
