Scientists have discovered a curious pattern that they called the “pulse of the Earth.” It characterizes the cyclical nature of major geological events.
The researchers found that most of the major geological events in the history of the Earth occurred at intervals of 27.5 million years, writes “Hi-Tech”. This cyclicality has been observed over the past 260 million years. In total, scientists have analyzed 89 major geological events during this period. Such events included extinctions, sea level fluctuations, large volcanic activity and tectonic plate movements, as well as periods of lack of oxygen in the oceans.
Scientists saw that most of the events were grouped into ten time periods with an interval of 27.5 million. This estimate, of course, is not super accurate, but good enough.
