The Minister of internal Affairs of Lebanon, Mohammed Fahmy submitted an official cause of the explosion in Beirut. He reported about it on air of TV channel Al Hadath, reports TASS.
According to him, in the port of the capital exploded dangerous ammonium nitrate. At the same time, the TV channel Al Mayadeen in law enforcement agencies reported that detonated seized nine years ago from one of the vessels contraband cargo of explosives, which were stored in a warehouse at the port for further processing or destruction.
Four months ago a report was issued about the big threat of storage in sea Harbor such shipment of hazardous substances. According to some, at the warehouse a short circuit happened that caused the fire, causing the ammonium nitrate exploded.
A powerful explosion occurred near the port of Beirut on the evening of 4 August. Affected many areas of the city, including were hurt in the blast at the Russian Embassy. According to some data, at least 30 people were killed and more than three thousand were injured.
