The key difference between the new and old MacBook Air is the lack of a fan. This was reported by specialists from iFixit, a report on the dismantling of Apple laptops is available on the community website.
Enthusiasts took apart the new M1-based MacBook Pros and Airs and compared them to Intel-based laptops. The reviewers showed the internal components of the devices and noted that the new MacBook Air differs from the old one, which was introduced in early 2020, by the lack of a fan. The experts positively assessed the rejection of the cooler due to the fact that the new computer has fewer moving parts that may fail in the future. “From time to time you will need to change the thermal paste, that's all,” – says the description of the device.
After the experts disassembled the MacBook Pro, they said that it was practically no different from the previous device in the series. “The new computer looks so familiar from the inside that we had to double-check if we had accidentally bought an old model,” the authors joked. Enthusiasts emphasized that visually the cooling system of the MacBook Pro on the M1 is very similar to the cooling system of Apple laptops based on Intel processors: “Nothing special, just a copper tube that removes heat from the processor to a small heatsink.”
Also, when dismantling the components of the current MacBook Pro, experts noticed that Apple introduced new memory modules. They resemble those found on iPads. In conclusion, the experts stated that the dies of the RAM and internal memory are soldered on the motherboard, which makes it impossible to upgrade the laptop on your own.
Apple computers based on its own M1 processor were presented at the presentation on November 10. The company showed MacBook Pro and Air laptops and a Mac mini stationary computer, the cost of which starts at 130, 100 and 75 thousand rubles, respectively.
