The inhabitants of the Earth were promised a “solar corona” during the total eclipse of the Sun, which is expected on Monday, December 14. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Moscow Planetarium.
The maximum phase of a solar eclipse is expected at 19:13 Moscow time. Within about two minutes, the inhabitants of the planet will be able to see a ring of fire or “solar corona” around the moon, which will completely cover the solar disk.
“With a total eclipse, the” solar corona “resembling a ring of fire is visible, as well as stars and planets located near the Sun,” the planetarium said.
Astronomers also added that not a single phase of the solar eclipse will be visible from the territory of Russia. However, the Moscow Planetarium will conduct an online broadcast, which will be commented on by Oleg Ugolnikov, a senior researcher at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Anyone can join it at 17:25 Moscow time on the YouTube channel and the planetarium's social media pages.
Residents of Chile and Argentina will be able to observe the phenomenon live. Also, residents of some regions of South America will be able to follow what is happening. Including the eclipse will be visible in Polynesia, Antarctica and Africa.
