The implementation of the law on a sustainable Internet will require an investment of 31 billion of budget funds, says the draft law “On the federal budget for 2022 and for the planning period of 2023 and 2024.”

The money is put into the Information Society program. According to it, to ensure the integrity, stability of the functioning and security of the Russian segment of the Internet, as well as public communication networks in 2022, about 10.8 billion rubles may be needed. In 2023 and 2024, these measures will cost 10.3 billion rubles and 9.5 billion, respectively.

These expenses are supposed to be included in the activities called “Control and supervision in the field of communications, information technology and mass communications.” Thus, the funds for them can increase in 2022 to 19.9 billion rubles, in 2023 – up to 19 billion, in 2024 – 18.4 billion.

Recall that the law on a sustainable Internet in Russia came into force on November 1, 2019. Its goal is to ensure the stable operation of the Russian segment of the Internet in the event of its disconnection from the global infrastructure of the World Wide Web.
