The Hydrometeorological Center warned of an increase in natural hazards in Russia

The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, spoke about the increase in natural hazards in Russia.

– In the first half of 2021, 574 dangerous meteorological phenomena were recorded in Russia … It turned out that this is 18% more than last year. Last year, there were 487 dangerous phenomena, – quotes a specialist RIA Novosti.

He explained that forecasters consider those phenomena that threaten the health and life of people to be dangerous. They can include heavy showers, snowfalls, squally winds, heat and very severe cold.

Earlier, Roman Vilfand announced a noticeable warming on the planet. According to him, this trend is also observed in Russia. This becomes most noticeable when the air temperature is averaged over a decade. The meteorologist also added that if you create environmentally friendly production, minimize harmful emissions into the atmosphere, switch to a “green economy”, then the temperature rise on the planet will not exceed 2 degrees.
