The Hungarian national team denied interest in the candidacy of the Russian specialist Stanislav Cherchesov. It is reported by Sport24.
The press attaché of the Hungarian team, Gerge Szabo, claims that 58-year-old Cherchesov is not being considered as a candidate for the post of head coach. Earlier, a number of media outlets announced that the Hungarian national team could be headed by a former coach of the Russian national team.
On December 4, it was reported that the Belgian Antwerp was interested in Cherchesov. The club is ready to offer the Russian citizen a salary of 1.2 million euros per year.
In November, it was reported that the Polish national team was showing interest in Cherchesov. It is this team that will become the rival of the national team in the play-off match for the right to participate in the 2022 World Cup.
Cherchesov left the post of head coach of the Russian national team in the summer after the European Championship. At the tournament, the Russians did not manage to overcome the group stage.
