According to Gebreyesus, the start of vaccination in all countries is in the interests of the whole world and will help fight the coronavirus everywhere. If somewhere this process is delayed, or vaccinations are not carried out at all, then these very places will become a field for the multiplication of new varieties of the virus. “In this case, the vaccines that we used may become useless,” he said.
The head of the WHO stressed that the lack of vaccination in developing countries concerns not only them, but also “high-income countries.” He urged countries to explain to their citizens that not only vaccination is needed to protect them from coronavirus, but also vaccinations in the “rest of the world.”
