A high-ranking official of the North Atlantic Alliance believes that Russia's strategic goals go beyond Ukraine.< /p>
The head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, ensures that the Alliance is ready for a direct confrontation with Russia, noting that the current priority is rearmament.
He said this in an interview with the Portuguese channel RTP.< /p>
According to a senior NATO official, the industrial production of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance should be reoriented to the military sphere. In order to carry out rearmament, in his opinion, it is advisable to introduce a “military peacetime economy”.
The head of the NATO military structure says that Russia's strategic goals go beyond Ukraine, given that Moscow intends to regain the size of the former of the Soviet Union.
At the same time, he assured that NATO was ready for a direct confrontation with Russia.
Rob Bauer is skeptical about the reality of a nuclear war, saying that he does not consider Russian President Vladimir Putin's crazy.
“I think Vladimir Putin is not crazy, and this is good news. He has ideas that do not correspond to our ideas. But he is not crazy. So, he is still a rational person,” – said the admiral.
Recall, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed the opinion that the risk of Russia using nuclear weapons is small. However, he notes, the Kremlin's “nuclear rhetoric” is irresponsible and dangerous.
