The head of the Ministry of Health of Slovakia, Marek Krajci, was dismissed because of his position on the purchase of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the country, Igor Matovich, reports the Noviny portal.
He explained that the country's government was close to collapse due to the current situation. “Since the purchase of Sputnik V was the decisive reason for the demand for the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Health on the part of our coalition partners, in my opinion, this resignation should take place only after the use of the Russian vaccine begins in Slovakia,” the head of government said. expressing gratitude to him for the work
According to Matovic, Krajci has done the most in the last year. The prime minister called the demand for the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Health absurd, inhuman and immoral. He noted that Kraichi has become a ritual “victim of discord” within the ruling coalition.
On March 6, the Prime Minister of Slovakia responded to calls to abandon the Russian vaccine. The politician said he would not return the drug back. Matovic stressed that after the purchase of the drug, a lot of criticism fell on him, but when Moscow offered to return the batch of the drug without further sanctions, the critics fell silent. He also added that he would not refuse to save his own people with the help of a high-quality vaccine just because it was produced in Russia.
The supply of the Russian vaccine has led to serious political divisions within the country. Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korchok condemned the Prime Minister, who personally met the first batch at the airport. President of the country Zuzana Chaputova also spoke out against the use of the Sputnik V vaccine. Then Matovich was given an ultimatum: either the continuation of the coalition cooperation, or the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Health, who issued permission to use Sputnik V.
