Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko addressed the residents of Energodar, which the Russian troops wanted to enter today, as well as the workers of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is located near the city.
The appeal was published by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
Galushchenko expressed confidence that the residents of the city, together with the military, would not allow the enemy to encroach on Europe's largest nuclear power plant.
– I would like to appeal to the ZNPP employees and residents of Energodar. You are now going through an ordeal, but knowing many of you personally, I am confident in your every action and devotion to our state. Together with our military and national guards, you will not allow anyone to encroach on Europe's largest nuclear power plant, the minister stressed.
Galushchenko also thanked the power engineers who, in the conditions of hostilities, ensure the stable functioning of the energy system of Ukraine, in particular, in those areas where active battles are now taking place: Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kiev, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolaiv.
“I sincerely thank you for the fact that, despite the shelling and the danger to your life, you, in cooperation with our heroic military around the clock again and again, resume electricity and gas supply,” said Galushchenko.
Earlier today, employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP came out to meet the convoy of Russian invaders so as not to let them through to the strategic facility.
Mayor of Energodar Dmitry Orlov urged citizens to approach the checkpoint so as not to miss the enemy column. Later, he informed that the Russian troops retreated.
Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It is located on the banks of the Kakhovka reservoir in the Zaporozhye region, near the city of Energodar.
