The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, warned Russia that new, strengthened sanctions await it in the event of another act of aggression against Ukraine.
– We expect Russia to de-escalate and refrain from any aggression against Ukraine. Otherwise, the EU is ready not only to strengthen existing sanctions, but also to take new, noticeable measures, she said during a briefing on December 10.
Recall that US President Joe Biden discussed the build-up of Russian troops near Ukraine with leaders of the countries of Eastern Europe.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also warned the Russian Federation against a new attack on Ukraine and said that Nord Stream 2 will face consequences in the event of an invasion.
