Gina Haspel
The head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Gina Haspel announced her resignation. This was reported on the agency's Twitter page.
“To lead this amazing organization has been the greatest honor of my life. I am leaving and am very proud of our work done, ”she said.
Earlier, the Iranian authorities brought in against US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other US officials, including Gina Haspel. The measures were introduced within the framework of the law “on counteracting violations of human rights, adventurous and terrorist actions of the United States in the region.”
Last November, incumbent US President Donald Trump was about to fire Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and FBI chief Christopher Ray. Josh Rogin, a journalist for CNN and an author in The Washington Post, noted that the president's discontent was caused by the fact that the heads of departments did not do everything he wanted them to do.
Gina Haspel became the first woman to serve as director of the CIA. She headed the department since 2018.
