Tatarstan President Minnikhanov announced his readiness to comply with the law on regional power

The opinion of the leadership of Tatarstan was not heard during the adoption of the law “On general principles of organizing public power in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation”, which prohibits the heads of regions from being called presidents, but the republic will comply with it. This was stated by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, reports RBC.
“The position of our parliament was known. It is clear that there are things that have developed historically. We must be able to listen to each other. When work was underway to amend the constitution, a commission was created, many authoritative people participated, and the whole procedure went very positively, “Minnikhanov responded.
He noted that not only the deputies from Tatarstan opposed the adoption of the law on regional power. “The law has been passed. And we are law-abiding people. It so happened that our voice was not heard, ”the politician added.
According to him, the process of coordinating regional ministers with the federal authorities is already underway.
The law “On general principles of the organization of public power in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation” was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 21. In addition to prohibiting regional heads from being called president, the law also establishes a single term of office and allows them to serve for more than two consecutive terms.
