The head coach of the Russian youth ice hockey team Sergei Zubov denied information about smoking when boarding a plane in Canada. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“Come on, what kind of cigarettes? I quit smoking three years ago, ”Zubov said. He noted that the team will still fly to Russia.
The coach of the national team stressed that someone really needs to exaggerate what actually happened. “Many guys from both teams were wearing masks incorrectly. After repeated reminders, the airline decided to remove both teams from the flight, ”he explained the reasons for the situation.
State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev announced that this incident should be addressed to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR). He noted that they should sort it out, and then apply sanctions.
Earlier it was reported that the main claims were directed to the Czech team. At the same time, the Russian national team was removed from the flight due to a violation of the mask regime by the head coach Zubov, who smoked when he entered the plane through the landing sleeve.
On January 1, it became known that the Russian youth ice hockey team could not fly out of Calgary, Canada after the 2022 World Youth Championship was canceled.
