Traveling by air increases the risk of thrombosis in pregnant women, said Polina Bolshakova, an obstetrician-gynecologist of the network of medical centers “Poliklinika.ru”, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
“Pregnancy itself is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic disease, and in combination with air travel, the threat increases,” the specialist told the website kp.ru.
Bolshakova advised pregnant women to follow the recommendations of doctors. According to her, doctors usually prescribe to consume a certain amount of fluids, do leg exercises and wear preventive compression stockings.
