The governments of Kosovo, the USA and Serbia nominated for the Peace Prize

The administration of US President Donald Trump, as well as the administrations of Kosovo and Serbia, were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump's special representative Richard Grenell wrote about this on Twitter.

The reason for this is a historic agreement reached by representatives of the Serbian state and the partially recognized Albanian republic at a meeting in American Washington. Trump brokered an agreement to normalize economic ties between Belgrade and Pristina. The Serbian side refused to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

In addition, both sides agreed, following the United States, to move embassies to Jerusalem, thus recognizing it as the capital of Israel. Soon after, Serbia resented the Jewish state's intention to recognize Kosovo and announced that it would change its mind about moving the embassy.

On September 9, it became known that Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the reconciliation of different countries and peoples, primarily for participation in the Arab-Israeli conflict and the plan for the reconciliation of Israel and Palestine.

The Republic of Kosovo is a partially recognized state on the Balkan Peninsula. It is mainly inhabited by ethnic Albanians, but there is also a Serb population. Serbia considers the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija – the so-called region in the Serbian constitution – part of its territory, the local authorities declared independence in 2008.
