By the end of 2021, the Internet will be connected in all Russian schools. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, reports TASS.
“Until the end of 2021, the remaining 10,733 schools will be provided with the Internet,” Chernyshenko said.
These terms are laid down in the digital economy national program. Chernyshenko also said that all the necessary IT infrastructure will appear in Russian schools by 2024.
“This year it is planned to equip more than a thousand schools with IT infrastructure in 16 regions, including the Moscow region. In total, it is planned to equip 39 319 schools in 84 regions, ”Chernyshenko said.
Earlier that by the end of the year all Russian schools are planned to be connected to the Internet at a speed of at least 100 Mbit / s, village and rural schools – 50 Mbit / s, said the head of the Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov.
He also said that the Internet in Russian schools will provide access only to verified content. “Thus, we will protect children from the negative information, which, unfortunately, is used, let's say, for unscrupulous purposes,” said Kravtsov. At the same time, the minister did not specify what is meant by “negative information”.
