The German air force scrambled NATO fighters via a Russian Il-20

The Russian plane was moving without a transponder.

Eurofighter fighters belonging to the German Air Force (GAF) took off for interception of a Russian Il-26 over the Baltic Sea.

This is stated in a statement by the Air Force, published on page X.

As the department noted, the reason for scrambling the fighters was that the Russian plane was moving without transponder.

“Our Eurofighters from VAPB took off today from Lielvärde on a defensive flight to intercept a Russian Il-20 over the Baltic Sea, which was moving without a transponder,” the German Air Force reported.

Recall that the United States commented on the likely threat of an invasion of the Baltic countries by Russian military forces. Read more at the link.
