The former director of the CIA, US General David Petraeus, does not rule out the possibility of US military intervention in the war in Ukraine against Russia.

The American general expressed this opinion in an interview with the French edition of Lexpress.< /p>

According to him, in order for the American army to go into a direct clash with the Russian Federation, the invaders must do something very “shocking and terrifying”.

“I think that Russia could do actions in Ukraine that would be so shocking and so horrifying that the United States and other countries could react in one way or another, but as a multinational force led by the United States, not as a NATO force” , he noted.

However, Petrus believes that the head of the Kremlin, Putin, will not expand the war because of defeats on the battlefield.

“His forces are already inferior to those of Ukraine, and the last thing he needs is a wide conflict,” the American general added.< /p>

America's military assistance to Ukraine

The United States supports Ukraine and provides it with one of the largest military aid since Putin's full-scale invasion. And after rocket attacks on Russia on October 10, US President Joe Biden promised to provide Ukraine with modern air defense systems to protect against enemy missiles.

The United States is also preparing to impose sanctions on Iran due to the supply of weapons to Russia. The EU has already imposed financial restrictions on the supply of drones to the Russian Federation.

According to the Ministry of Finance, since February, Ukraine has received about $19.4 billion in financial assistance from foreign partners. Until the end of the year, Ukraine may receive another 5 billion euros from the EU, 4.5 billion dollars from the United States and 1.3 billion dollars from the IMF.
