The words of the former commander-in-chief of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Kai-Achim Schoenbach, that Crimea will never return to Ukraine, reflect the views of not only the officer himself, but also a significant part of the military and political elite of Germany. This is how Alexey Zaitsev, Deputy director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, spoke about the resignation of the commander-in-chief of the German Navy, the correspondent of reports.

“We will not comment on the fact of resigning, this is an internal matter of Germany. But as for the essence of his statements, they obviously reflect the views of not only the general himself, but also a significant part of the military and political elite of Germany,” the diplomat stressed.

Zaitsev added that many high-ranking officials in Berlin have a “sound understanding of geopolitical processes” regarding what happened in Ukraine in 2014.
