The attempts of the West to isolate Russia from the whole world and present it as an aggressor are senseless and doomed to failure. Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, said this on the Soloviev Live YouTube channel.
“It is they who want to isolate us, not we them. But they will not succeed, ”Gavrilov said on the air. The head of the delegation added that the proposals on security guarantees are aimed at stabilizing the situation, and not at its escalation.
Gavrilov said that Moscow will not allow the deployment of NATO facilities on the territory of Ukraine and Georgia. The diplomat added that otherwise Russia will respond to such actions accordingly.
Earlier, the representative of the US State Department Ned Price said that further negotiations with Moscow are possible only if the principles of reciprocity are observed. Russia's proposals touch on issues that worry it, but America has its own concerns.
On December 17, the Foreign Ministry unveiled draft agreements with NATO and the United States on security guarantees. In the document, Russia reflected its intentions to stabilize the situation in order to prevent further escalation. Moscow believes that the expansion of NATO to the East and the inclusion of Ukraine in the alliance poses threats to national security.
