Moscow hopes for the prudence of the European Union (EU) on the issue of imposing sanctions against Russia. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin, RIA Novosti reports.
“We hope that, unlike Washington’s approach to the “sanctions field”, which is devoid of any adequacy, prudence will still prevail in Brussels,” the diplomat concluded. He noted that the stability of the international financial system itself would suffer from the introduction of restrictive measures against Moscow.
Pankin stressed that the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions will hinder the recovery of the global economy and the ability to meet the Sustainable Development Goals in a timely manner.
Earlier it was reported that US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed the possibility of introducing anti-Russian sanctions due to the situation around Ukraine at talks in Washington. So, Scholz noted that sanctions in case of destabilization in the Ukrainian region will be very tough and universal.
