The Russian side has a “B” plan on the issue of security guarantees. This was stated by the head of the Russian delegation at the talks on military security and arms control in Vienna, Konstantin Gavrilov, RIA Novosti reports.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that the plan was developed in case the US and NATO do not respond to Moscow's security proposals. “Negotiations, contacts are starting. We are at the very beginning of the road, and they will have to react to it, ”he concluded.

At the same time, Gavrilov noted that no one would like to resort to alternative measures. “This is not an ultimatum – this is a tough demand, which is inspired by the circumstance and time,” he said. The diplomat urged the parties to get used to the idea that Russia's interests should be protected.

On December 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia still has not received a concrete response from the United States to proposals on security guarantees in Europe. “We certainly heard the words, but most of all with reference to various sources, about the readiness to hold a discussion, this is probably a positive factor,” he added.
