NATO is involving countries that do not have nuclear weapons in training to test the use of American nuclear weapons against Russia. Vladimir Ermakov, Director of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused the North Atlantic Alliance of practicing such attacks, TASS reports.
According to the diplomat, Moscow is confident that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be unleashed. “For a long time we have consistently promoted the idea of confirming this principle by all states of the nuclear Five,” he said.
Ermakov hoped that the leaders of the nuclear powers adhere to a similar position on this issue in the current difficult conditions of international security. He noted that progress on the reduction of nuclear weapons can be achieved on the basis of a consensus process with a course for verified phased reductions in conditions of strengthening international security and stability for all States.
Earlier, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres called the number of nuclear warheads in the world unacceptable. He said that the number of nuclear warheads is constantly growing and has now reached 13 thousand.
