The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that the omen, which says that winter will be frosty, if rowan bunches are “very red” in autumn, is untenable.
“For 100-110 years, biologists and I collected data on when there was a red mountain ash and whether it led to frost. It turned out not. There were also warm winters, ”RIA Novosti quotes the forecaster.
According to him, the sign that a hot summer will come after a frosty winter has also not been confirmed.
On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, the head of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, Sergei Gustov, said that the winter would be frosty and snowy.
“I believe that the winter will be cold, because there are a lot of rowan trees on the trees,” SeverPost.ru quoted him as saying.
He also stated that since the summer was warm, the winter would be very cold.
