At the Sredne-Nevsky shipyard in St. Petersburg, the launching ceremony of the innovative research vessel Pioneer-M took place.
According to the press service of the United Shipbuilding Company (USC), which includes the enterprise, the ship is intended for the Sevastopol State University and will be operated year-round in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
“Pioneer-M” will be the first vessel in Russia to test the technologies of unmanned navigation. We see it in the near future as an “unmanned vehicle” on the water. navigation “, – said the head of the USC Alexei Rakhmanov.
The ship's hull is made of composite materials, it is equipped with a control system and interaction with marine mobile research laboratories.
Pioneer-M will be able to reach speeds of up to 10 knots and operate autonomously for five days.
After launching, the shipbuilders will continue to work on completing the vessel, saturating it with systems and mechanisms.
