The first test launch of the Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile has been postponed to 2022. This is reported by TASS with reference to a source in the military-industrial complex.

According to the agency, the launch as part of flight design tests will take place in the first quarter of next year. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.

Earlier, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) Sergei Karakaev said that the first regiment of the latest Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles “Sarmat” will take up combat duty at the end of 2022.

In August, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that flight tests of the Sarmat missile would begin in 2021 and end in 2022.
