A new strain of coronavirus, AY.4.2, is picking up steam right now in the UK. Now it turned out that the first case of the disease was also detected in Russia.
According to Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, there are several carriers of the new variant on the territory of our country.
It is important to understand that AY.4.2 is just one of the many branches of the “delta” line, writes Lenta.ru with reference to the scientist. In this regard, it is difficult to say exactly how much the new strain is more dangerous than its predecessors.
Recall that foreign experts are of the opinion that AY.4.2 may turn out to be “the most contagious form” that humanity has encountered since the beginning of the pandemic.
