In Israel, information has appeared about the first coronavirus infected with a new subspecies of the strain “delta” AY.4.2. According to the Israeli TV channel I24, an 11-year-old child was diagnosed with the disease.
The minor arrived in the country from Moldova. During a check at Ben Gurion Airport, he was diagnosed with a coronavirus. The study showed that this is the same new strain that British scientists discovered.
The information was confirmed to reporters at the Israeli Ministry of Health. The representative of the department clarified that the 11-year-old patient did not contact anyone and was in isolation.
As the site kp.ru previously wrote, a subspecies of the AY.4.2 delta strain was discovered in the UK by scientist Jeffrey Barrett of the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge and director of the Institute of Genetics at the University of London, François Ballou. According to the researchers, it is 10-15 percent more infectious than the original variant and may become the most dangerous of all strains.
