Maria Sotskova
The figure skater of the Russian national team, Maria Sotskova, was disqualified for ten years for forging a medical certificate. TASS reports.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) said that Sotskova presented a fake document as an excuse for skipping doping tests. She has missed three doping tests since 2019 out of competition. It is noted that a prohibited substance was found in one of the tests of the athlete.
Sotskova – silver medalist of the Grand Prix finals of the 2017/2018 season. At the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, she finished eighth. She also has silver and bronze medals at the Russian championships. In July, the skater announced her retirement.
In 2019, Russian high jumper Danil Lysenko was suspended from the competition for two years due to missing doping tests. The athlete provided fake documents that allegedly confirmed his illness during the tests.
