Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, said that the Pentagon's announcement that US aviation would continue military flights over the Black Sea was nothing new. This is how he responded to US statements in a conversation with Izvestia.
As the politician noted, the Pentagon regularly conducts various maneuvers of the US and NATO ships, and the planes fly over the border with Russia. “We have a proposal to ensure security on the European continent. I would like to believe that they will be treated carefully and general principles will be developed that will ensure the security of all the contracting parties, ”Tsekov stressed.
He expressed confidence that the corresponding dialogue will continue. “I would like it to end with the adoption of a good sound document,” concluded the senator.
Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby reiterated the Russian military presence at the border with Ukraine. According to him, US aircraft will continue to fly over the Black Sea. “We will continue to fly, walk and conduct operations where international law allows us to do so,” he said.
