The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) accused Russia of attempting to break into US state authorities. This is stated in an official statement by the FBI and the US Department of Homeland Security.
According to the agency, Russia sponsors the activities of hackers who carry out attacks on the cyber systems of regional and municipal authorities. It is also noted that the target of cybercriminals is the aviation industry.
Earlier, the United States charged six Russians with hacking. They are accused of being involved in “some of the most destructive cyber attacks in the world”: an attack on Ukraine's power grid, interference in Georgia, during the French elections and in connection with the 2018 Olympics.
