The famous Russian biologist and specialist in the field of sleep physiology Ivan Pigarev died at the age of 80. The incident took place in Moscow, on Sparrow Hills, MK.RU reports.
The Doctor of Biological Sciences was cycling through the Vorobyovy Hills to work at the Institute for Information Transmission Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences and collided with an electric scooter. As a result of the collision, the scientist fell off his bicycle and hit his head on the asphalt. He was taken to the 1st city hospital with serious injuries, but the doctors were unable to save him.
Ivan Nikolaevich Pigarev graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Soil Science of Moscow State University, wrote more than 60 articles in domestic and foreign journals. Until recently, he gave lectures on the theory of sleep as a biological process, was actively involved in scientific research, and himself set up experiments.
