In recent years, the 747's colossal commercial success has declined, because there were more economical models of aircraft have been developed.
Production of Boeing 747 aircraft is being discontinued and the last such aircraft, which was acquired by the American cargo airline Atlas Air, left the assembly line.
This is reported by “BBC News Ukraine”.
Boeing 747 made a real revolution in the field of civil aviation. It was produced for 50 years and this aircraft was called the “Queen of the Skies” for its popularity. And now the liner was given a royal farewell: its crew depicted a huge crown and the number 747 in the sky.
The workers said goodbye to the plane a few days earlier. Thousands of Boeing employees gathered on January 31 at the world's largest aircraft construction plant, Everett, in Washington state, where 747s have been produced since 1967.
The farewell ceremony was attended by the designers who joined the creation of the aircraft, as well as Hollywood star John Travolta, who is an aviation enthusiast and has a pilot's license.
