Programmer, information and computer security specialist Sergey Vakulin recommends blocking it immediately after the loss of a phone on which a password has not been set. After that, you can try to track its location.
There are applications that allow you to lock your device, find it on a map, or erase data from it. For Android phones, you need to download them additionally, and on IOS devices, the ability to search for the device and lock it is in its functions. But this will only work if geolocation and mobile data transfer are enabled on the phone.
If a password is set on the smartphone (symbols or biometric data), then blocking is optional, since it is almost impossible to hack it.
Getting a response from the phone at a distance will not work if it is turned off. The specialist added that at the request of law enforcement agencies, the mobile operator can provide the location of the phone before turning it off.
It makes sense to call your number in case it was found by a conscientious person. If this does not happen, then after trying to track or block the smartphone, the expert advises to contact the police. It is better to take the box from the device and the receipt with you to the office, this will help to identify the phone if it is found. Sergey Vakulin recommends keeping the phone box with the receipt throughout the entire period of its use. They were indicated by the IMEI code by which the smartphone can be identified.
