Unique find. Archaeologists have discovered over 100 sarcophagi and 40 statuettes in Egypt. Their age is two and a half thousand years.
Artifacts were found in the Sakkara necropolis. They were first shown to journalists. According to scientists, they belong to the late period of Ancient Egypt and the era of the Ptolemies. Wooden sarcophagi were taken from three burial wells 12 meters deep.
“This is the number one discovery. Firstly, because of the number of finds – more than 100. Secondly, because of their preservation. The condition of these sarcophagi is much better than those found earlier. Apparently, rich and high-ranking Egyptians are buried in them, ”said Mustafa Vaziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Ancient Monuments of Egypt.
