The Russian Federation now faces a difficult choice.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could start a war in Ukraine for several reasons at once.
This opinion was expressed by expert on long-term strategies, director of the Frontier Institute, member of the Nestorov group, lecturer at UCU Evgeniy Glebovitsky in interview LIGA.net.
According to him, Russia and China are now facing a very difficult choice.
“They have exhausted the possibilities for developing their economy with the tools they used. In particular, GDP growth rates in the Russian Federation are sagging. People feel that they do not have access to the best living standards. At such a moment, a great temptation is created for dictatorships with a small victorious war “unification“, says the expert.
Also, in his opinion, the weakness of the West at the beginning of the war allowed the war to prolong.
“It is now beginning to become structural. That is, changes in world trade, economics and political aspirations are becoming such that they take the confrontation as a given “, – he added.
The expert also commented on the catastrophic demographic situation.
