Sergey Minko, General Director of the City Innovative Technologies company, called the Prime Agency the Russians who, starting January 1, 2021, risk being left without electricity and water for housing and communal services debts.
The expert explained that a certain time is given to pay off the debt – if the consumer repaid at least part of the debt, this already becomes a reason not to disconnect him from the resource. Moreover, if a person ignores the first warning, he will receive a second, and only then the management company can go to court with a request to collect the debt.
The specialist noted that each debtor has enough time to pay off the debt and not bring the situation to an extreme degree. However, if the debtor for a long time ignores warnings that he may turn off the light or water, bailiffs will join the case.
According to him, it is better not to lead to such a situation, and, starting from the new year, to gradually pay debts for housing and communal services.
Earlier in December, it was reported that large fines for non-payment of housing and utility services in the coming 2021 could be charged to Russians for the entire debt generated in 2020. Officials did not prescribe clear rules for lifting the moratorium on penalties and fines, introduced in the spring amid the spread of coronavirus.
