A Russian general criticized the equipment of the occupying army, comparing it to a "partisan detachment".
Former commander Airborne troops of the Russian Federation, and now State Duma deputy Vladimir Shamanov, criticized the Russian Ministry of Defense for providing the occupiers with low-quality uniforms.
Newsweek writes about this with reference to Russian propaganda media.
Speaking to parliamentarians, the retired Colonel General said that the military uniform received by soldiers “simply cannot be assessed in any way” due to its extremely low quality. According to Shamanov, due to inadequate equipment, the Russian army is increasingly looking like a “partisan detachment.”
Newsweek notes that public criticism of dictator Vladimir Putin is rare, given that in March 2022, the Russian parliament passed a law providing for up to 15 years in prison for deliberately spreading “fake” news about the country's military. The Kremlin has used the law to crack down on those who deviate from Putin's version of the war, and has also indicted and jailed its own military personnel for “discrediting” the country's military.
Note that Shamanov headed the Russian Airborne Forces from May 2009 to October 2016, and after leaving this position he became chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense.
We recall that earlier Zelensky explained the reasons for the dismissal of Sergei Shoigu from the post of Russian Defense Minister. Putin's main goal was to eliminate a potential conspiracy among the generals, behind which Shoigu could stand along with the former Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
