The new package of EU sanctions, designed to weaken the Russian military machine, also includes symbolic goods that do not affect the strategic industries of the Russian Federation.
EU Ambassadors leading negotiations on the next package of sanctions in Brussels, February 15, considered a list of goods that will no longer be exported to Russia. The entire list of bans fit on 146 pages. It, in particular, includes toilets.

The main goal of the trade embargo, which will cost the Russian Federation 11 billion euros a year, is to stop the sale of high-tech products that can be used in Russian weapons systems. We are talking about electronics, lasers, radio equipment, software, avionics, marine cameras and rare earth minerals, etc.
On the other hand, new trade sanctions are aimed at hitting Russia's industrial potential in a broader sense . Thus, the new list of bans will include “bidets, toilet bowls, flushing tanks and similar plumbing fixtures”, as well as LEDs, hemp yarn, forklifts, mail sorting machines, chimneys, bricks, tires, and even “pen nibs and nibs for them”.
“Toilets have become a symbol of the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 24-year rule has not helped improve the life of Russians, as Russian soldiers began to rob them, first in Georgia in 2008, and now in Ukraine – because one in five Russian houses still there are none,” writes the publication.
